Intro to Agility
This introductory class is for dogs and handlers with little or no training experience, or for those who wish to review basic skills. The course aims to build a set of behaviors that are the foundation for further agility training. Exercises will be introduced to teach the dog handler focus (attention training) and obstacle focus (target training), as well as teach the handler how to use body language to communicate better with her/his dog. Teams will also learn the three basic modes of handling: send, run with, and recall. Please note that in this class we will only work with non-contact agility equipment (i.e., jumps, tunnels, and weave poles).

Our classes are taught by club members. Most of us are not professional trainers but people with agility experience who enjoy sharing our skills with others. If you have never taken a dog training class, we'd suggest you start at a professional training center. The Charles River Dog Training Club has a comprehensive list of classes. Once you have reasonable verbal control over your dog, you are welcome to join our Introduction to Agility course.
